Religion in Modern Britain: Revisiting a Research Site
Given by Professor Grace Davie, Professor Emeritus of Sociology University of Exeter
In this lecture Professor Davie will be looking at the changes – expected and unexpected – that have occurred in the religious life of modern Britain since the publication of Religion in Britain since 1945: Believing without Belonging in 1994.
The essence can be captured in the following paradox: Britain is noticeably more secular than it was some twenty years ago, but religion is more present in public debate than it used to be.
